Connecting ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to ISO Mate means your AI assistant can answer from your real tasks, tickets, deals, issues and compliance records instead of whatever you paste into the chat. It takes a few minutes, needs no API token, and the assistant only ever gets the access you choose on a consent screen, capped by your own role.
Connections like this have become practical because the major assistants now speak the same open standard. The Model Context Protocol authorization specification, most recently revised in July 2026, describes how an assistant signs in to a tool with OAuth 2.1, so you approve access in your browser rather than handing over a password or a long lived key. ISO Mate now supports that sign in for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.
Why your AI assistant feels disconnected from your work
Most teams already use an AI assistant every day, but the assistant starts each conversation knowing nothing about the work. So people copy a ticket into the chat, ask for a summary, paste the answer back, and repeat the routine for the next ticket, the next sprint and the next policy. It is slow, it invites mistakes, and nobody can say afterwards which records left the platform.
The usual fix, building an integration with API keys, solves the copying but creates a new problem: long lived credentials that sit in config files and quietly keep working long after anyone remembers they exist.
What changes when your assistant is connected
- Answers from live records: ask which incidents are still open or what is left in the current sprint, and the answer comes straight from ISO Mate, not from an export that went stale last week.
- Less copy and paste: the assistant reads the records itself, so the context is complete and nothing gets lost between windows.
- One assistant across the whole operation: the same connection reaches tasks, notes, issues, test cycles, help desk tickets, the sales pipeline, calendar events, compliance records and reports, as far as you allow.
- Routine updates handed over: with write access, the assistant can create tasks from meeting notes, update issues, add calendar events and keep leads and opportunities current while you stay in the conversation.
- Your choice of assistant: people who prefer ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini each keep their favourite and still work from the same source of truth.
What it looks like in a normal week
- Monday planning: an operations manager asks for overdue tasks and the day’s calendar before the first meeting, then has the assistant create the follow up tasks agreed in that meeting.
- After a sales call: a sales lead asks for the open deals in a stage, then updates the opportunity with the next step without opening the pipeline view.
- Support triage: a support manager asks for a summary of new help desk tickets and which ones need attention first.
- Sprint check in: an engineering manager reviews what is left in the sprint and turns a meeting transcript into issues on the backlog.
- Audit preparation: a compliance officer asks which controls still need evidence and which policies are due for review, with read access only.
Why your security team can say yes
Giving an AI assistant access to business data is a fair thing to be cautious about. ISO Mate was built so the safe choice is also the default one.
- No tokens to leak: you sign in with your normal ISO Mate login, including two factor authentication, and the assistant never sees your password.
- One account per connection: you pick the account the assistant may reach, and it can never see your other accounts.
- Access per area, Read first: you choose None, Read, or Read and write for each area. Read is preselected and write access is always your decision.
- Never more than your role: ISO Mate checks your role on every request, so if your role changes, your connections follow straight away.
- Some actions stay human: assistants can never manage users, roles, API tokens or billing, never create or change workflows, and never sign policy attestations.
- Full visibility: you get a notification and an email for every new connection, and the Connected apps page lists each one with its access and last use, ready to revoke in one click.
- Account wide control: administrators can see and revoke every connection in the account, or turn AI assistant connections off entirely.
How to connect in a few minutes
- In ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, open the connector settings and add a custom connector.
- Paste the ISO Mate MCP server URL:
https://api.isomate.io/api/mcp - Sign in to ISO Mate when your browser opens.
- Choose the account and the access for each area, then click Allow.
- Ask your first question, for example “What are my overdue tasks in ISO Mate?”
The exact menu names differ a little between assistants. Our guide to connecting ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini to ISO Mate covers each one, including Gemini CLI.
Getting the most out of it
- Start with Read: most questions only need it. When the assistant needs to change something, it asks you to approve more access, and you decide then.
- Grant write where the busywork is: tasks, notes and the sales pipeline are good first candidates for Read and write.
- Be specific: name the module and the outcome, such as “list open help desk tickets from this week and group them by priority”.
- Review now and then: a quick look at Connected apps each month keeps only the connections you still use. Our guide to managing connected apps shows how.
