Your email address is how you sign in, recover your account, and receive important messages, so ISO Mate treats changing it as a sensitive action. You confirm your current password, then verify the new address from a link sent to it. Until you verify, your original address stays active, so a typo never locks you out.
Where to change your email
- Open the profile menu (the person icon in the top toolbar) and go to your Profile.
- Update the email address field with your new address.
- Save your changes.
Email addresses must use standard characters, so an address built from look alike or non standard symbols is rejected.
Confirm your current password
Changing your email address requires you to confirm your current password. This proves the change is really you and not someone using an unattended session. Other profile details, such as your name, phone number, timezone, and language, save normally without a password prompt. Only the email change asks for it.
Accounts that sign in with Google
If you sign in with Google and have never set a password, you are asked to set one before you can change your email address. Once a password is in place, the change follows the same password confirmation step as every other account.
Verify your new address
The change does not take effect right away. ISO Mate sends a verification link to the new address, and the change only completes once you open that link. The link is valid for one hour and can be used once.
Until you verify the new address, your original email stays your active address. You keep signing in with it, and password reset messages continue to go there, so you are never locked out if the new address was entered by mistake.
What happens to a linked Google account
If your Google account was linked under the address you are leaving behind, confirming the change unlinks it and signs you out of your other sessions. That link existed because you held that address, so it does not carry over to the new one. Sign in with your password, then link Google again from Security Settings if you want to keep using it.
This matters most when a work address is reassigned to somebody else after you leave an organization. Without it, whoever receives that address next could still reach your ISO Mate account through Google.
A Google account you deliberately linked under a different address is left alone, because it was never tied to the address that changed.
We notify your old address
Whenever an email change is requested, ISO Mate sends a notification to your previous address. If you did not request the change, this alert gives you a chance to secure your account. As a precaution, review your password and enable two-factor authentication.
If the link expires or the address is taken
- Expired link: if the verification link expires, start the email change again to receive a fresh link.
- Address taken: if another account has claimed the address while your change was pending, you are asked to choose a different address.
